Abstract
Now tourism industry is the largest economic sector in Maldives in which foreign investment is common.
Even though, Maldives is mainly depending on imports, tourism is the main economic activity in Maldives
which flows foreign currency. The government leases the islands to develop resorts to private parties. As
STO has the interest on hospitality industry they are going to enter the industry to earn foreign currency.
They need to find out the best and most appropriate ways to market its newly entering hospitality
industry. So that they could compete with the existing experienced competitors. The aim of this study is
to identify from which country's tourists are coming more to Maldives, to identify the tourist packages
that would be most profitable to offer by STO, find out the ways to offer more job opportunities to locals
and how they would be trained and to find out the best marketing strategies to market its hospitality
products.
I would do a qualitative research in which an exploratory approach would be used to collect information
regarding the topic. Because, it helps to develop the existing idea, it uncovers trends in thought and dive
deeper into the problem. As tourism is a booming business and the industry has a limited budget for
marketing its products, it should have well planned marketing activities which should generate a positive
return on investment. The marketing of tourism could be done in many ways.
