Peer observation an investigation into how peer observation improves teaching efficacy : a case study / Aminath Asma

ABSTRACT
The core purpose of conducting this research is to investigate the teachers' perception of how peer observation improves teaching efficacy in a Maldivian higher secondary school. Data were gathered form five teachers teaching International A 'level syllabus working at a higher secondary school. Face- to- face interviews are conducted to gather the necessary information and data were analysed using thematic analysis.
This study revealed that teachers believe that peer observation improves teaching efficacy and the process of how peer observation improves teaching efficacy were identified as learning and believing by seeing, reflecting on own practice through observation, implementing and practicing till they reach mastery experience. The findings provided an understanding of how teaching efficacy can be improved in teachers in a higher secondary school. The study has raised the importance of exploring the barriers for peer observation and investigate why peer observation is rarely practiced in Maldivian higher secondary schools.
