EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The study is about "A study of information and communication technology (ICT) and its impact on
employee's performance at local council offices in Fuvahmulah" for the purpose of this study, the study
does not limit to any specific information systems, in general all computerized information systems are
considered. The main purpose of this study is to identify and understand the ICT that can be used to
improve employee performance of employee functions. The study also attends practical aspects of these
systems in the work environment.
In this study, many previous studies related of information system and its impact organizational and
individual performance has been studies in both private sector and public sector organizations. Derived
from the previous ICT studies, five factors that have direct influence on performance of employees have
been identified to formulate a model. The five factors that have impact on performance were employee
perceive on usefulness, perceive ease of use, task-technology fit, utilization, and computer self-efficacy.
The research findings show that five hypotheses, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, tasktechnology
fit, utilization, and computer self-efficacy has significant impact on employee performance.
From the variables computer self-efficacy has the highest impact on performance while perceived ease of
use has the lowest impact on performance. Consideration of this findings concluded ICT has really impact
on employee performance.
In addition, from practical aspects of these information systems have positive impact on the performance.
As well as benefits some issues are associated with these systems that should be overcome with necessary
actions.
