Abstract:
This dissertation focuses on Student and Teacher Perception of Teacher Code Switching Practices in Higher Secondary Classroom in the Maldives. The main findings of the study are that teacher code switching to Dhivehi is acceptable if it brings benefits and doesn't bring any harm, teacher code switching to Dhivehi should be used only when necessary, teacher code switching helps to improve student understanding and provide Emotional, Cognitive and Language Support for Weak and Strong Students
