Abstract:

The main aim of this research was to examine the way in which life skills education is delivered and implemented in public school of Maldives. By administering interviews and observation, information was collected for evaluating how effectively and efficiently life skills education was implemented for students of grade six and above. Answers for the following questions were used to draw up conclusions on the effectiveness of life skills education in the selected school. 1. How adequate are the resources used in teaching Life Skills Education? 2. What are the opinions of school management, facilitators', students' and presents toward Life Skills Education? 3. What are the challenges in conducting Life Skills Education? The result of this research would provide useful information for the school in which data were collected and to Ministry of Education/Maldives. This information would also be useful in enhancing the existing life skills program of the Ministry of Education. Based on the guidance of Ministry of Education, schools need to implement life skills education for students above grade six levels. This study would benefit facilitators to improve the way they teach with the help of the responses given by the participants. This study would also be resourceful to the school to further enhance and develop overall implementation of life skills education.
