Abstract
The aim of the research is to analyze higher secondary students' mathematical achievement in according to their learning style and achievement in the subject across gender. A sample of 200 students from two different higher secondary school allocated in the capital city of Maldives (Male) was chosen randomly for the study. A quantitative survey method was employed in order to gather information using questionnaires. Data was analyzed using SPSS. The findings showed that there is no significance difference in the attitude towards mathematics across gender. Similarly no significance difference was found in the learning style across gender. In contrast a significance difference was seen in the achievement of the students across the learning styles. Low achievers were seem to practice diverging learning style where as high achievers seem to exercise assimilating learning style. In addition, the correlation between overall positive attitude towards mathematics and mathematics achievement showed a moderately positive relationship between the two variables. When further analyzed the achievement score was high for the students with overall high positive attitude towards mathematics than students with medium and low attitude towards mathematics. It was concluded that learning style and attitude towards mathematics contribute to the achievement of the students.
