Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the how well and to what extent Dhasvaaru program motivate students to learn, and the challenges faced by teachers, and school management in making this program successful. This research will benefit all bodies involved in the teaching and learning process of Dhasvaaru program. This research will find out whether Dhasvaaru program has any effect on students motivation towards learning. This finding will lead to motivate the low achieving students and their parents towards choosing Dhasvaaru program. This research will be conducted in a school in the capital city of the Maldives, Male', who have started Dhasvaaru program in 2014. The locus group is the graduates of Dhasvaaru program of 2015 and 2016. This research used qualitative approach. The students who have participated in this study shared that by joining Dhasvaaru program they are motivated to learn and do something important for their life. Study reveals that through Dhasvaaru program, students knew their strengths and areas they need to improve, while other students learned some important values like being punctual, appreciating and respecting others, work with different people. Alter completing the program, students are very confident and self-assured. They also learned the importance of team working, delegation, collaboration and respecting others According to the research findings, students got motivated to learn through Dhasvaaru program and they got a golden opportunity to build both their career and life. Students are happy to be part of this program, which opened a door for their future.
