Abstract
This is a qualitative case study aiming to identify the impacts on students' learning and challenges faced by teachers by the implementation of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) in classroom teaching and learning. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, by interviewing live teachers and three students who are directly involved in the BYOD practice, and then it was transcribed. Data was analysed through thematic analysis approach. Findings have informed that, BYOD practices impact positively on students learning by making the students engaged and motivated to learn. It provides opportunity for the students to explore more about the concepts. Perhaps, distractions and demotivation due to slow internet connection were reported by students and teachers, which impact negatively on students learning. Additionally, limited time for preparation, lack of digital knowledge and training, monitoring and managing class and inaccessibility of the internet, lack of recharge facility were reported by teachers as the challenges which affect the implementation BYOD lessons in classrooms. For future practice, it is important to address workload of the teacher to solve the issue of limited time. Similarly. conducting ongoing training sessions can make the lessons effective for students. In a nutshell, building a tech-friendly environment with strong network infrastructure and recharge facility can provide effective implementation of BYOD for students and teachers.
