Abstract
This study has found a) factors affecting the adoption of eTourism (i.e. Information Technology based tourist operation) at Sun Island Resort and Spa; b) Develop a framework for eTourism Adoption at Sun Island Resort and Spa.
This research utilised an interpretive paradigm with qualitative methods (i.e. semi structured interviews) and document reviewing. The research participants were senior and mid level staffs at Sun Island Resort and Spa.
The findings revealed the factors that affect the adoption of eTourism. These factors that impede the adoption of eTourism in the tourist resort such as Sun Island 111. Resort and Spa. A framework for eTourism Adoption were formulated using these factors. A clear recommendation was documented.
This study contributes to existing knowledge by providing a clear understanding of the factors and development of a framework. This research is important to gain a wider understanding of the future directions for cTourism Adoption at resorts. This research has covered a relatively scarce area of research in the Maldives and will contribute to practitioners and the academic community thereby stimulating for further debate.
