Abstract
Employee benefits and its impacts on employee performance are under studied area in human resource management. Through a wide review of literature it has been identified that there were very less researches conducted on this area. Thus very few information and knowledge are available regarding this area. The employee benefits have become part of the expenditure of the organization since the industrialization. Hence employee benefits have become the integral part of the organization. In today's competitive business environment benefits play important role to improve the organization's performance.
MACL is one of the largest business organizations in Maldives. It is a 100 percent government organization responsible for operating of the biggest international airport in the county. As the operation of the MACL has increased in recent years, the human resource management has become challenging and complex. MALL consist of more than 2500 employees offer different level of employee benefits to its employees.
The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of employee benefits on the performance of employees in MAU. To analyze this, a pre research observation of target population has been conducted to reduce the unforeseen obstacles. Based on the finding of the observation sample data was selected using a structured questionnaire from the target population. Data collected from 100 participants have been analyzed to find out the results.
The result of the research has been discussed using relevant literature and theories. Overall, the research managed to identify the link between employee benefits and its impact on the employee performance. Also the research revealed that the impact of benefits to the performance is different to the different category of employees. For example, the impact to the performance is high for the employees who are in the operational level than the managerial level.
In addition to that the research has discovered some of the weak area in the benefit system in MACL. For example, it has revealed that MACL has poor benefit communication system. Because of this issue, most of the employee was unable to take the maximum use of the benefits provided by the organization.
