Abstract

The most discussed topic around the world is rights. It is a significant entitlement for all workers. In any country with a high percentage of migrant workers. it is essential to analyze the extent workers are aware of individual rights. In Maldives, the majority of workers in construction area are migrant workers. A quantitative research showed that migrant have low level of understanding or awareness of migrant workers rights, even though there is a legal framework for migrant workers in Maldives. It is the case for mandatory permits, individual rights and discrimination. The migrant workers are in confusion or have the wrong information in these three areas. Therefore, it is important to find out the reasons for the cause in order to improve the situation.
