Abstract

This dissertation explores the existing recruitment and selection policies and practices, in FENAKA Cooperation Ltd. The researched interests on this organisation as it has been publicly know that e annual staff turnover of this organisation are significantly high. The research is carried out as exploratory single case study as there is no data available for reference. 30 participants from the organization were selected by purposive sampling and data were collected by interviewing them. Face-to-face interviews were conducted to get in-depth in relation to current policies, recruitment practices, and selection process. The quality of the data is maintained by triangulating data from different, department of people and cross-checking data with other sources.

The research findings reveal high deficiency in current policy and practices. Some major issues include inadequate evaluation of applicants, implementation single evaluation technique, in efficiency of evaluation and selection process and team and unfair selection due to external pressures. All the 30 percipients from FEANAKA who took part in this research are unsatisfied about current practices and policies. Based on this findings and literatures, it is obvious that existing practices would have very negative impact on organisational performance and efficiency of the staffs.

Hence the research recommends reviewing the recruitment policies to define categories and criterions of evaluation in recruitment of the staffs. Further it is also recommended to give proper training to the members of selection committee and adopt new testing techniques like personality test, integrity test and sample work test in recruitment and selection process. By implementing these sorts of policies and practices, the company image among the potential job market will be increased and prospective candidates would attract to the organisation.
