Abstract:
The aim of the study is to find the relationship between teachers' personality and students' performance. The variables of the study include secondary teachers' personality measured, and their students' first term results of 2013. To satisfy the intent of the study, a sample size of 40 secondary teachers is chosen randomly from a population size of 50 teachers. Equal number of teachers of both gender were included in the survey. The selected teachers had one year of teaching experience of secondary categories. These teachers were selected from Jalaluddin School. H. DH. Kulhudhuffushi Republic of Maldives. The big five inventory model was used as the instrument in the study to examine teacher' personality. Big give personality traits are extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism and Openness. These traits have their extremes, which were also tested in the study. The data collected were analyzed using inferential statistical tests. It was found there was no statistically significant relationship between any of the teacher' personality type and students' performance. Similarly this study found that there is no statistically significant difference between teacher' personality according to their gender. Also the study determined that teachers' personality is not a predictor of student' performance. The study opened a door for research's to perform further studies in this study area, in a Maldivian context
