Abstract:
Teacher questioning is gate to knowledge and classroom interaction. The purpose of this case study is to examine the type of questions used by teacher, the strategies adapted and teachers' and students' perception and attitude. The results of this study revealed that teachers uses various types of questions however mostly display questions are used rather than referential questions. Furthermore, effective questioning strategies are used by the teacher conversely they were not effectively used by the teachers when questioning. The results also revealed teachers questioning promote interaction and influence motivation by making students to think and understand the knowledge imparted by creating the veracious atmosphere and environment to participate and learn by interacting through ESL. Therefore, it is recommended to practice and development these types of questions and strategies of questioning while teaching in ESL classroom.
