Abstract:
This study is concerned with students' attitude towards physics in a selected school in Maldives. In particular, this focused on science student programs' perceptions of their physics classroom as well as the factors related contribute to attitude of student towards understanding physics in the mentioned secondary school.
Qualitative data were used in this study. A total of six students studying physics in secondary grades were selected for the study. Semi-structured interview was conducted to collect data for study with a questionnaire filled by the students.
Qualitative data analysis approach was used in the study from the collected data. The major finding was on both students' achievement and teaching methods used in the classroom by the physics teachers. The results also showed that the students should be given the opportunity to explore things inside and outside classes and also the necessary and modern textbooks should be provided for both the learners and the teachers as well. One major purpose of this study was to develop a scale for measuring attitudes towards physics course while examining construct validity and testing.
