Abstract
This article is a research survey conducted in three Male' schools. The study tends to identify factors affecting Biology performance. The main question studies are (i) is there a significant difference between male and female students' performance in Biology examination (ii) is there a significant relationship between students; attitude towards Biology affect their Biology performance (iii) is there a significant difference in the attitude of male and female students, studying in lower secondary, towards Biology and (iv) is there a significant relationship between the types of school lower secondary students is attending and their Biology performance? A quantitative survey was conducted and questionnaire was administered to grade 9 students. The key findings of the research showed that there is a correlation between attitude and performance, gender and attitude, practical work and performance and the type of school studying and their performance. Several implications of the research are included in chapter 5.
