Abstract:
Students' attitude towards physics has been one of the many factors that affect their performance in physics. Previous researches have also shown that in some contexts, there exists a gender gap in the students' attitude towards physics and also in their performance in physics. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is any relationship between the students' attitude towards physics and their performance in physics among physics students of a Maldivian secondary school. Also, it aims at finding whether there exists any gender difference in both the students'attitude towards physics and performance in physics. A total of 64 tenth-grade physics students were administered using a questionnaire to find out their attitude towards physics. Also, their semester examination physics performance was asked. The results show that the students' attitude towards physics is positive, but it correlated negatively with their performance in physics. Moreover, the results also revealed that there is no gender gap in both students'attitude towards physics and their performance in physics.
